Universal Connection

I just discovered Santiago Vergara this morning and now I know it is going to be a great holiday weekend. I also discovered this artwork today and I am thinking about purchasing it either as a print or canvas. It's titled World Tube Metro Map by artist Michael Tompsett and in his words is,

"An interpretation of a World Map, with cities around the world linked in the style of a metro system map. The design leans towards the realistic style (New York Subway Map) while keeping elements of the schematic style (London Underground Tube Map), making it visually appealing while maintaining the shapes of the continents."

I decided to juxtapose Michael's image with Santiago's mixes because to me this map represents just how interconnected we are in this day and age. This morning I'm just sort of randomly searching around on the internet and next thing I know, I stumble upon Santiago's wonderful creativity. This person happens to be almost 4,000 miles away from me, on a different continent and just shy of a different hemisphere and boom the universe sends his stuff my way. I love it--so amazing! When you view the world as subway lines, it is a visual reminder of the potential that exists to be connected to one another--city to city, person to person through the virtual subway line of the internet. When I find good mixes I love, I literally feel like I've struck gold. Elation immediately sweeps over me and I believe anything is possible. I still trip out especially when I find music that someone else has made and is sharing from halfway around the world. It's so cool. Enjoy!

There are many more mixes, but here are a few to get you started. Definitely check out Santiago's soundcloud.
